God said let there be light. Obama said ‘Yes we can’. Martin Luther King said ‘I have a dream that one day…’ They said, they did, and it came to pass.
Words are often taken for granted in our everyday lives. We have an authority in this world to speak life into existence, or simply kill. It’s often overlooked in the music we listen to, the books we read, and the news channels. What are we feeding into our spirits and minds?
It is as straightforward as a physical diet. What you put into your mouth will eventually show on our faces, bodies, and medical bills. Have you ever noticed when you eat a large unhealthy meal how sluggish you feel? It feels as if all you can do is sleep and click the remote. When we begin drinking more water and eating greens and fruits, we get our life back and feel rejuvenated. Words operate in the same fashion. We are speaking spirits that have the authority to articulate direction into each others lives to make ourselves feel sluggish or lively.
I’ll never forget when opposing politicians of Obama would joke and state that he was only a great speaker /writer, and where would that get us? They underrated the power of words and how that catapulted people to knock on strangers doors and vote for the first time in their 70 year life.
The word ‘inspire’ means “God breathed”. God breathed into Adams nostrils to bring him to life. Without his inspiration there would not be human existence. Words can breathe life into you from a heavenly place. Author John MacArthur explains inspiration as the following, “Inspiration is the means God used to communicate special revelation”. So if revelation comes from inspirational words, just think of what the opposite can do. What kind of revelation or manifestations are we bringing into our lives with negative speech? “Words can activate angels or stop them in their path. They are waiting to be directed by your words” (Dollar).
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. That was the most significant lie that we’ve been told in our childhood. I don’t remember the pain of my first physical fight, but I remember the words that were said. It’s because it is a revolving spirit.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, and the Word is God. He did not want us to speak pessimism or bring harm amongst ourselves. He speaks to us clearly so that we can have revelation and inspiration to share good news. Not the gossip, not the pain, not the broke attitude.
He created us in His image.
God said let there be light, let there be water, let there be…
Tifair said let there be….
Joan said let there be….
Mark said let there be….
Reggie said let there be….
What will you manifest today?
